INFO ABOUT DESKSPACE (Source: Wikipedia.org)

DeskSpace, formerly known as Yod'm 3D (short for Yet anOther Desktop Manager 3D) is a virtual desktop manager available for Windows 2000, XP and Vista. It is not the first program to offer a cube-style virtual desktop management feature on Windows operating systems, but it is believed to be one of the better executions of the idea in the Win32 environment.

It is mainly used by XP users to generate desktop management features which were introduced in Vista.

Features

DeskSpace maps six virtual desktops to a cube and allows the user to switch between them, similar to the cube plugin for the Compiz and Beryl window managers for the X Window System in Linux.[2] It is the first desktop manager that makes this feature available on Microsoft Windows. DeskSpace makes use of and requires DirectX 9[3] in contrast to most other virtual desktop managers that use OpenGL.

It does not require installation to run, and is most commonly distributed as a ZIP archive.

Known limitations

Under version 1.4 it's not possible to change the wallpaper for one of the additional desktops permanently by right-clicking an image file and selecting "set as Desktop Background". One has to change the wallpaper via the Properties dialog.

Desktop icons cannot be arranged for individual sides of the cube. They are the same for all sides.

Yod'm 3D

After the acquisition by Otaku Software, Yod'm 3D (originally from Chris'Soft) changed name to DeskSpace."(July 9, 2007) DeskSpace, unlike its predecessor, is not freeware; however users were encouraged to download and use the last free version v1.4 if they wish to still use it.(July 25, 2007)
